Position Summary...

The Director of Store Innovation - Continuous Improvement will be responsible for leading a future-thinking team that is working to re-imagine the way we enable associates to serve our customers.

As the leader of this dynamic team, the Director of Store Innovation will work closely with Operations business unit leaders to identify and prioritize areas of support to create a pipeline of initiatives that align to our strategic goals. This role will have a high impact within our stores and across our organization, and will drive transformative change while working with cross-functional teams to solve interesting and ambitious challenges.

What you'll do...

  • Formalize the process & digital innovation framework for the Operations function with the goal of tackling organizational, associate, and customer challenges within specific areas of focus (“domains”) to create new value
  • Work closely with the Operations business unit leaders to identify and prioritize areas of support for innovation to onboard initiatives and lead pilots that strategically align with our goals, with clear guardrails on progressing to full roll-out handoff to field implementation teams
  • Stay ahead of emerging trends and serve as a thought leader with a clear vision to identify new opportunities to drive digital, automation and innovation within the team’s specific domains; engage with other international and US markets on best practice sharing
  • Lead a team of innovation project managers by providing strategic insight and direction as they guide a specific initiative from ideation through to proof of concept.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, to engage in the right moments, ensuring all success criteria and changes are included in ensuring successful adoption and sustainable performance.
  • Track progress on the portfolio of key store initiatives with a focus on their alignment with Walmart Canada’s overall innovation strategy and delivering productivity and savings for the organization
  • Provide regular updates and reports to the Vice President of Continuous Improvement and leadership team on progress across the portfolio
  • Lead, design and manage the 3-5 year Innovation and Digital roadmap, that delivers against our long range plan ambitions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree at a minimum
  • Strong analytical skills with both qualitative and quantitative data
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, with a proven ability to manage diverse relationships, and influence and build consensus across a broad range of backgrounds, organizational levels and perspectives
  • Experience implementing and applying design thinking methods and tools to highly complex projects
  • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to provide leadership on projects that might not have a predefined solution and/or scope; resourceful and adaptable to changing circumstances and environments
  • Experience driving projects using agile methodologies and a design thinking process within enterprise organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to lead senior stakeholders and partners, and influence executive decision making, while navigating complex organizational dynamics
