Position Summary...

The Mgr., Construction delivers all construction projects on time and on budget and in conformity with industry, regulatory and company's standards. This position's strong expertise on commercial construction industry practices, environmental standards and trends will significantly contribute to the company's immediate and future growth plans.

What you'll do...

1. Propose bid list of contractors for assigned projects. Research and propose contractors for pre-qualification review, that can be added to Walmart preferred contractor list.

2. Build project specific budgets and phasing plans for each project, with Format Implementation Team, that focuses on reducing overall project disruption to store sales and operations, while coordinating construction requirements.

3. Identify and ensure proper permits and contracts are in place for each project and conduct pre-bid and pre-construction meetings. Participate in multiple pre-construction project development meetings to ensure that project plans facilitate construction methods and techniques.

4. Monitor and manage construction progress utilizing weekly project updates to schedule and site reviews. Develop/Review and approve project Change Requests, Change Directives, Change Orders and Progress Draws.

5. Liaise with external consultants, internal cross functional teams, including Format Implementation, Design, Marketing, Legal, Licensee, Asset Protection, ISD, Merchandising, Operations and Procurement in the approval of quantities and delivery to site, for all Walmart supplied items to Contractors.

6. Conduct on-site project reviews and evaluation meetings throughout the project. Work with Store Operations and Format Implementation to plan and phase projects to reduce store/sales disruption.

7. Ensure all project deficiencies are resolved in a satisfactory manner and per project specifications and industry and regulatory standards in a timely manner.

8. Participate weekly with cross-functional team to identify and review project risks and changes. Propose mitigating actions as required to maintain project budget and schedule.

Qualifications

  • Able to read architectural plans and interpret specifications.
  • Knowledge of hierarchy of contract documents and familiar with hierarchy of contractor and sub-contractor’s responsibilities.
  • Experience in various trades including property maintenance.
  • Experience in use of Auto-Cad, Evoco, MS Project, SAP/Teamworks.
  • Advanced understanding of Canadian Legislation relating to compliance on building permits and codes.
  • Proficient in Construction Industry Health, Safety and Environmental Prevention and Control programs.
  • Knowledge of Construction Contracts, Contractor's Obligations and Deliverables
  • Minimum Education Required Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum Years of Experience Required 6 - 8 year
