(CAN) Manager, Merchandise Planning- 12 Month Contract

Position Summary...
This is a 12 month fixed term contract role.The Merchandise Planning Manager is the lead merchandise planning resource for a business unit exceeding $400 million in annual sales, partnering with Senior Directors and Senior Replenishment Managers, set plan and review in season results of merchandise assortment and OTB process, whilst reviewing performance analysis that will deliver Sales, GP and Inventory targets for departments and divisions.
What you'll do...
Manage and provide direction for Merchandise financial plans and forecasts of the merchandise hierarchy down to subcategory/category level (e.g. sales, markdowns, receipts), highlighting risks and opportunities by formulating action plans for leadership approval.
Accountable for planning and analysis of product from development to selection to allocation to exit in order to meet financial and merchandise plans and budgets and all other KPI’s, as well as communicating/reporting results to appropriate cross functional partners.
Manage, provide direction, and review assortments in collaboration with the Senior Director of bottom up assortment build whilst understanding the potential sales and profit. Partner with Senior Director to formulate and present the product with appropriate assortment financials to leadership, including modular assortment mixes.
Drives the execution of the current business plan/forecast by working closely with and influencing cross functional partners such as Senior Director, Senior Replenishment Managers, finance and store operations, including the identification of opportunities to improve process and implement standardized solutions across their own business unit or across multiple business units.
Lead the merchandise planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities for assigned departments. Provide critical historical seasonal overview data (post season recap and pre- season planning) to Senior Directors, finance, and product development to assist in formulating seasonal plans and evaluating previous season strengths and weaknesses
Collaborate with Senior Director to conduct weekly sales business updates and actions including review sub-cat to category sales, inventory and profit performance actual vs. plan and last year. Review top and bottom performance, best and worst sellers. Collaborate with Senior Director and Sr Replenishment team members at weekly meeting to review performance.
Forecast and execute to markdown budgets, preparing and reporting recommended action plans whilst achieving GP and inventory targets at department and divisional level.
Provide coaching, and direction to Merchandise Planners. Drive engagement by valuing associates, listening and responding to concerns, recognizing and rewarding accomplishments, providing opportunities for growth and development and championing Associate Opinion Survey action plans. Provide associate performance and potential assessments to facilitate associate career progression through the Individual Development Plan and assist in determining corporate talent requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Accounting, Retail Management, Economics, or related field coupled with 3 years’ experience in retail management, financial planning, category management, buying, replenishment, operations, or related field
- Without education: 5 years’ experience in retail management, financial planning, category management, buying, replenishment, operations, or related field
