Position Summary...

Senior Analysts, Merchandise Analytics are responsible for leading small to medium subsets of larger projects and conducting advanced analytics in order to provide actionable insights to Walmart Canada Senior Leadership to support strategic decisions within Merchandising. They must possess a high level of analytical ability to distinguish multiple components of a problem, an innate curiosity to ask and answer the next logical question, and the ability to develop conclusions using quantitative, qualitative, exploratory, and predictive data analysis skills (such as attribution modeling, forecasting, recommendations, profiling, and clustering).

  • Support delivery of merch analytics solutions - Build model logic and ensure accuracy of output - Inspect and analyze data to inform design - Build data queries to support model build or maintenance.
  • Build tools using SQL, R, Python, Excel to support application of analytics solutions.
  • Conduct standard and ad hoc analysis to address business problems raised by the business related to strategy, assortment, or cost - Build financial or other scenario models to support complex cost projects (e.g., bids, business shift) - Analyze assortment to identify opportunities to improve performance to support modular reviews or category strategy activities.
  • Build and execute regular reporting (e.g., actuals tracking, exception reporting, supplier scorecards, etc.).
  • Utilize Data Mining (Retail Link, SQL), Nielsen, NPD, RStudio or Python notebooks to create, maintain, and assign assortments to clusters and planograms. Responsible for accuracy of data; Product level, Performance level, Cluster and Assortment level.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1-3 years of experience in a business analyst/data analyst/statistical analyst role and conducting analysis and data mining using SQL, R, Python, Excel.
  • 1-3 years experience extracting and processing data using BigQuery, SQL Server or comparable database systems.
  • Prior direct experience in analyzing the relevant subject matter (e.g. Merchandising, Supply Chain, Operations, etc.)
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail; self-starter
