Position Summary...

Support the Merchandising Team in driving sales, margin, and market share for the Produce category, with a strong emphasis on international sourcing and supply chain management. Pursue new produce item opportunities in compliance with global market regulations, and collaborate with Merchants across international hubs to develop and launch new products. Ensure consistent supply, top quality, and cost competitiveness for fresh produce imports.

What you'll do...

Preseason Planning (Produce & International)

• Organize and review seasonal planning activities for produce, collaborating with Sourcing Managers, Merchants, and DMMs across international markets, using insights from previous seasons and country-of-origin data.

International Vendor Setup

• Initiate and manage the setup process for new international produce suppliers, ensuring all supplier IDs and documentation are in place for cross-border business.

Produce Buying Plan

• Align on volume, quality standards, sizes, specifications, and expected costs for produce items with international Sourcing Managers, tailored to Merchant and market needs.

Cross-Functional & Global Communication

• Coordinate with cross-functional and global teams to communicate upcoming produce programs, validate international logistics capabilities, and provide visibility for import/export operations.

Produce Item Regulatory Compliance (H.T.S.)

• Work with Sourcing Managers to complete all regulatory and customs documentation (including H.T.S. codes) for produce imports, ensuring smooth and compliant entry into the market.

Produce Item Creation

• Oversee item creation for new produce SKUs, collaborating with imports teams and merchants to ensure accuracy and readiness for international distribution.

P.O. Generation & Tracking

• Monitor purchase order generation and tracking for international produce shipments, ensuring alignment with MABD and timely delivery.

International Shipments

• Partner with Imports and Global Logistics to validate on-time departures, manage cancellations, and provide alternative supply solutions for produce, in collaboration with Sourcing Managers.

Produce Compliance & Quality

• Ensure all international produce suppliers comply with documentation, food safety, and sanitary requirements set by relevant authorities, preventing customs delays and quality issues.

Rejections & Claims Management

• Coordinate with Quality teams to address produce rejections, negotiate claims with international suppliers, and implement corrective actions.

Category Performance Monitoring (Produce)

• Lead KPI sessions with Sourcing Managers and Merchants to review produce category performance, address supply deviations, and develop solutions for continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

• Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools.
• Relevant experience in sourcing, procurement, supply chain management, or international trade.
• Experience working with global suppliers and cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with retail or consumer goods industries is a plus.

• Understanding of global markets, regulations, and compliance.

• Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
• Multilingual (Spanish) abilities can be an advantage.
• Knowledge of sustainability and ethical sourcing practices is increasingly important.
