Position Summary...

The Senior Manager, Merchant Analytics leads cost analytics and vendor management programs, delivering insights and solutions to enhance business performance. This role involves strategy development, execution, and leadership of a team to achieve optimal costing, profitability, and category growth.

What you'll do...

The Senior Manager, Merchant Analytics leads the strategy and planning for cost analytics, aligning with senior leadership on approach, prioritization, and execution. This role may oversee the implementation of new processes or improvements, supporting an annual cost analytics program. The position also leads the execution of vendor investment programs and complex vendor negotiations to deliver significant investments and cost reductions.

Overseeing category strategy and annual negotiation processes, the Senior Manager ensures alignment with business goals, monitors post-implementation performance, and implements corrective actions. This role may involve leading working sessions for new processes and complex categories, developing negotiation approaches, and ensuring the achievement of targets. Additionally, standard supplier communications consistent with legal and compliance rules are developed and overseen.

The role sets team strategy for selection and prioritization of categories, delivering training and leading category manager working sessions. The position may also manage supplier engagement processes, including content development for communications and managing ad hoc engagements. If applicable, the Senior Manager develops and implements strategy for multiple teams, leading the alignment to defined business strategies and managing subordinate managers.

Collaboration across various groups, including merchandising, technology, and supply chain, is essential to achieve project goals. The Senior Manager acts as a subject matter expert on insights and analytics, driving the adoption of solutions and ensuring overall business and financial objectives are met. Leading and developing a team, this role fosters a mindset of continuous improvement and adaptability.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum education required: Post-Secondary Education in Business / Science / Engineering or related field

  • Minimum 6-8 years of increasing responsibility in merchandising and/or cost analytics

  • Exceptional storytelling skills with a proven ability to successfully influence and manage stakeholder engagement

    • Methodical and strategic thinker who deploys sound frameworks to problem solve and solution concepts for testing and development

    • Loves connecting the dots through data and motived to develop technology to augment business processes and decision making

    • Results oriented leadership style with a keen ability to motivate a team to operate in an agile environment and act with urgency

    • Strong comfort analyzing various data sets (loyalty data, syndicated data such as NielsenIQ, web scrapped data, internal sales and finance data, shopper panel data, etc)

    • Sense of urgency and resourcefulness

    • Attitude to learn new and challenging work
