Position Summary...

The Senior Manager, Banking Expansion Strategy & Execution will support the Financial Services & Payments (FS&P) team in the development and execution of a strategy aimed at expanding our Banking products/services offering. Execution of the strategy will enable WMC to be better positioned relative to the Financial Services offerings of other Canadian retail competitors and align with International Financial Services strategic priorities.

The role will serve as the bridge between business and technology, helping to set business priorities and directing execution with technology teams on key transformation work packages. The SRM will be a key lead in the strategic goal setting for the broader banking expansion roadmap and will be working with key cross-functional partners to deliver new products and services to market. It will also be responsible for setting strategic direction and optimizing performance for one or more specific technology functions in the banking space.

The successful candidate will also have a lead role in leading cross-technology products between the FS&P business and the broader Walmart business.

What you'll do...

1.​​Strategy Design: Gather banking industry insights and cross-functional inputs to lead the development of the long-range Banking Expansion strategy. Lead and execute required activities (e.g., customer research/segmentation, market sizing, competitor analysis, business casing, financial analysis etc.) to inform a multi-year Banking Expansion roadmap. Ability to scope and prioritize initiatives to assist with meeting Financial Services’ and WMC’s strategic goals. Lead strategic planning sessions & workshops with the FS leadership team.    Work closely with International Financial Services Strategy team to align on roadmap for the Canadian market.​

2.New Product Design & Commercialization: Support the team in identifying and defining novel product constructs/services opportunities and delivery options.  When applicable, lead the partner selection process via RFPs and vendor/partner evaluations. Create and design relevant financial models to support decision making and forecasting.  Contribute to contract development with business and legal partners. 

3.Product Management & Delivery: ​Build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., Product, Tech, Ecomm, Merchandising, Store Ops, Legal, Compliance, Finance etc.) and vendors to support product delivery and BAU operations. Represent the FS business in key project management forums and ability to influence timelines and prioritization. Facilitate workshops, draft key documents & key business analysis (e.g., business requirements, standard operating procedures, customer experience flows, etc.), inform product roadmaps, support marketing, and associate training plans.

4.​​​​Communication & Socialization: Prepare executive-level presentations and reports to communicate the Banking Expansion strategy and performance against plan to senior leadership and business partners. ​​​

5.Business Performance Management: Full P&L accountability for all newly launched products. Support ad-hoc requests relating to product performance, compliance requirements, and operational excellence.
