Position Summary...
The Specialist, Merchandising ensures pricing compliance and integrity across promotions and events, both online and in stores. Key responsibilities include conducting market research, preparing weekly sales and inventory reports, and tracking market trends and prices. The role involves collaborating with the merchandise buying team, Category Managers, and other departments to support assortment planning, merchandise event execution, and advertisement proofing. Additionally, the Specialist helps manages vendor relationships, resolves pricing issues, and supports product recalls and merchandising inquiries. The position also includes working with eCommerce teams to optimize vendor content and ensure seamless integration between brick-and-mortar and online merchandising. The role requires adaptability to a dynamic retail environment and plays a critical part in the success of the merchandising strategies.What you'll do...
Key Responsibilities
- Pricing Compliance and Integrity:
- Manage pricing compliance across promotions and events.
- Run compliance tests, price audits, and event downloads.
- Investigate and resolve pricing issues, providing clear explanations and improvement suggestions.
- Market Research and Reporting:
- Market Research: Conduct research on market trends and competitor products.
- Reporting: Help to prepare regular reports on sales performance each Monday, inventory status, market trend, and competitor market price tracking.
- Collaboration and Adaptability:
- Work closely with the merchandise buying team and other departments.
- Adapt to a dynamic and sometimes high-pressure retail environment.
- Assortment Planning and Event Execution:
- Collaborate with Category Managers on assortment planning and merchandise event execution.
- Assist in advertisement proofing and managing item files.
- Create and track vendor-funded promotions.
- Maintain accurate merchandising templates.
- Data Analysis and Decision Support:
- Gather and analyze data to support merchandising decisions.
- Utilize various systems and tools for data analysis.
- Vendor Management:
- Train vendors on systems and initiate agreements.
- Ensure vendor compliance with agreements.
- Compliance and Issue Resolution:
- Support the compliance group on product recalls.
- Address merchandising inquiries from stores.
- Facilitate efficient resolution of issues such as stock discrepancies and modular maintenance.
- eCommerce Integration:
- Work with cross-functional eCommerce teams to optimize vendor content.
- Ensure seamless integration between brick-and-mortar and online merchandising.
- Assist with content onboarding, vendor set-ups, and new item listings to enhance customer experience.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with retail management systems ( retail link, scintilla, merch one ) an asset.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills for data analysis and reporting.
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in documentation and reporting
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Capability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Post-secondary education required
- Minimum 1-2 years' relevant merchandising experience
- Retail or eCommerce experience is an asset
