Position Summary...

The Manager, Merchant Analytics thought partners with the category managers to help them manage cost, strategic decision making, and offers vendor support, utilizing analytical models and tools to optimize merchandise costs and profitability. This role involves leading annual negotiation processes, providing support for category diagnostics, and developing strategies based on supplier performance gaps. The position also includes preparing and managing negotiation trackers, addressing issues with business unit leadership, and providing updates to executive leadership.

What you'll do...

The Manager, Merchant Analytics manages cost and vendor management processes, utilizing analytical models and tools to optimize merchandise costs and profitability. This role involves leading annual negotiation processes, providing support for category diagnostics, and developing strategies based on supplier performance gaps. The position also includes preparing and managing negotiation trackers, addressing issues with business unit leadership, and providing updates to executive leadership.

Additionally, the Manager, Merchant Analytics supports category managers in completing annual negotiations by advising on supplier communications, assessing proposals, and developing counteroffers. The role involves leveraging insights on pricing, promotions, assortment, category space, and market-share to inform vendor negotiation strategies. Coordinating top-tier vendor meetings, ensuring the execution of vendor investment programs, and developing ad hoc analytics for decision-making are also key responsibilities.

The position requires managing the cost-increase in-take and tracking process, analyzing commodity data from various sources, and using pricing trends to validate vendor cost-change requests. Identifying cost reduction opportunities and advocating for the use of commodity analytics in vendor conversations are essential functions. The Manager, Merchant Analytics acts as a thought partner on commodity pricing issues and maintains best practices in analyses.

The role includes leading the development and maintenance of analytical models and tools for sales and profit optimization. This involves aligning with stakeholders to build scalable, automated tools using big data, addressing roadblocks, and delivering technology-enabled solutions within timelines. Training business users on the models and tools is also part of the responsibilities.

Qualifications

*Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

*Experience with analytical tools (e.g. Excel, Access, SQL).

Must be strong in MS Excel

*High problem-solving skills, and general business acumen

*Solid relationship and influence skills
