Position Summary...
The Manager, Merchandise Analytics will lead the development of analytical models and tools that support the business in optimizing sales and profitability. The role will be initiating and/or advancing analytics in the areas of assortment optimization, loyalty, clustering, channel management and cost-to-serve reporting, for both stores and eCommerce. This will require coordinating and aligning with multiple stakeholders (Category Managers, Technology, Finance, Operations, Marketing) to design and build analytical models and scalable tools using big-data. This role is part of a team that serves as a center of analytics within Walmart Canada, with a mission to use data and analytics to drive the business forward.What you'll do...
1. Lead the design and , development and maintenance of costing and profitability of analytical models and tools that support sales and profit optimization
2. Thought-partner with business stakeholders to align on the critical analytics and tools needed to support their strategies
3. Project manage the build-out of scalable, automated tools, supported by local and international technology and data-science teams activities across multiple support groups (local and international technology teams, logistics, operations) , addressing roadblocks , and prioritizing steps, to deliver technology-enabled tools within pre-determined timelines
4. Define approach to leverage big data to drive insights and create scalable automated solutions Build and deliver training on models and tools to land them successfully with business users.
Qualifications
Undergraduate in an analytic/quantitative field such as: Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Science/Engineering, Computer Science with a minor in business or MBA.
- Graduate level degree in an analytics focused field is highly preferred
- A minimum of 4-5 years in roles performing analytics on large and fragmented data sets to derive business value
- Proficiency in understanding business problems/opportunities, translating needs into analytic projects and applying results
- Strong analytical skills coupled with the ability to form hypotheses and draw meaningful data-driven insights
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain and advocate complex concepts to business stakeholders
- Self-starter, with experience in delivering in ambiguous and rapidly evolving environments
- Strong skills in Excel, Powerpoint
- Expert skills in SQL
- R/Python skills preferred
- Understnading of Data Science concepts and application
- Knowledge of big data technologies preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Intermediate skills in visualization tools, such as Tableau, Looker, Power BI
