Position Summary...

The Senior Director Strategy will partner with Walmart Canada’s Executive teams to set the strategic agenda for Walmart Canada. This includes consulting with business leaders across the organization to identify opportunities, evaluate and prioritize options to drive strategic growth.  This Leader and a small team will play a key role in facilitating the annual strategic planning process which is critical to the success of the company’s long term direction and driving a corporate development agenda based upon that long term direction.

What you'll do...

Partner with the business teams to develop and manage the Long-Range Planning - driving rigor and internal alignment – ultimately gaining sign-off from Walmart International. 

Help establish analytical frameworks to identify, prioritize, structure, and solve complex problems – acting as a thought partner to business as well as driving early-stage review of opportunities. 

Lead ongoing market research and analytics to inform opportunities and risks for the organization, through internal and external sources, including the impact of broad economic outlook and consumer trends impacting Walmart Canada.

Develop and deliver systematic and ongoing processes for gathering, analyzing, tracking, and disseminating market information about competitors, marketplace environment and trends for key sectors for Walmart Canada and our stakeholders. 

Lead cross-functional teams (potentially including external providers) to develop strategies and roadmaps against top strategic priorities then transition to business for implementation. 

Create presentations and reports for executive management, and external audiences to enhance strategic decision making and support recommendations. 

Actively engage the broader Walmart organization to leverage and contribute back knowledge and capabilities. 

Manage strategic plan development for new ventures and other sources of new business development for Walmart Canada.

Develop, source, and negotiate terms for new business opportunities, ensuring compliance with Corporate Governance and Finance requirements. Act as lead entrepreneur for Walmart Canada in aggressively building incremental business for the company.  

Qualifications:

• 8+ years experience leading retail strategy, either in-house or as a consultant
• 5+ years experience leading a team
• Experience presenting to senior Leadership (C+)
• Strategic mindset, thought leadership and agility
• Strong relationship management skills, able to translate strategy to execution and speak to diverse audiences
