Position Summary...

This position is responsible for testing all applicants on their driving skills through a road test to ensure they have the skillset to operate our assets. They are also responsible for training all commercial vehicle drivers who operate Fleet equipment and necessary follow up and retraining. The incumbent must have a thorough understanding of Federal, Provincial and local safety laws to ensure the company complies with all current safety regulations. Also responsible for coaching a team of Fleet Drivers to ensure compliance with applicable laws and company policies.

What you'll do...

1)Reviews Health and Safety trends and initiates improvements to reduce hazards and prevent reoccurrences.Works with Managers to respond to JHSC written recommendations. Establishes and monitors regular communication of Health and Safety information, which includes updated information, training, etc.Makes recommendations and ensures the on-the-job Health and Safety Program is effective and maintained.
2)Incident/Accident investigation and prevention process. Has to demonstrate ability to uncover true root causes of incidents through a prescribed Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis process such as 5Y, or other similar methodology.
3)Review and mentor drivers regarding log reports to ensure proper completion to minimize careless errors as required.Follow up and take necessary actions forvarious compliance infractions (HOS, Speed, CVSA inspections etc.
4)Review all prospective drivers CVOR, experience, road test results driving qualifications.Conducts a thorough orientation with new drivers to ensure knowledge/compliance with general trucking regulations as well as Walmart Fleet guidelines and procedures outlined in the driver’s manual. Completes checklist on each new driver.Maintains current driver information records. Coordinates quarterly driver meetings to discuss safety issues & discuss opportunities to improve safety.
5)Prepares and facilitates Onboarding and safety training programs (TDG, Road Evaluations, SOPs, Defensive Driving, Winter Driving, National Safety Code, Provincial/Federal Legislation, etc.) and ensures their effective implementation.This includes preparing the classroom, following the course content, communicating objectives, monitoring students, assessing learning abilities and providing feedback and remediation training.Utilize theoretical and practical driving knowledge to support the development of the curriculum. Consult with other departments, regions and subject matter experts to identify learning needs, areas for improvement and develop course content.Identify relevant interactive design alternatives that will most effectively accomplish the performance objectives and learning outcomes. Record/edit audio and video training materials and develop multimedia assets (audio, video, illustrations, graphics, animations, and interactive content) to align with learning goals and adult learning principles.
6)Champion a safety culture through regular driver communications and responsible for creating solid relationships with our driver base so they feel comfortable asking for support. The role will lead a transformational initiative around driving engagement towards safety and to undertake a journey to become a world class fleet.
7)Participates in daily workplace inspections and coaching conversations to highlight and address safety concerns and provides visible evidence of interest, involvement and commitment to the Health and Safety Program.This includes walks through the workplace and equipment to ensure associates comply with safe working practices.Investigates and reports incidents including; accidents, injuries, complaints, near misses, misconduct, infractions, and other violations of company policies and procedures.Visit stores/vendors & other DCs to where safety/compliance concerns exist.Provides recommendations upon the appropriate action to be taken in order to correct substandard acts or conditions.Follows up to ensure the action was completed and effective.
8)Accountable for completing the necessary training records to be compliant.Maintaining driver files in accordance with the National Safety Code and any applicable legislation.

The pay range for this position is $60,400.00 - $75,450.00. Pay will be determined based on relevant experience.
